Bundesamt für Verkehr (BAV)
The job of the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) is to implement
and to help design Swiss policy on public transport. It is thus
responsible for significant areas of the transport policy agreed by
the Swiss people, parliament and Federal Council, including
passenger and goods transport on the railways, cableways and
chairlifts, buses and ships.
On behalf of Switzerland, Professor Hans-Rudolf Schalcher is
representing the FOT/BAV. Furthermore, Mr. Schalcher is assisted by
Frank Wadenpohl, PhD. Mr. Wadenpohl is consultant at pom+
Consulting and involved with the development of and assessment with
the IPAT.
Hans-Rudolf Schalcher is Professor Emeritus of Planning and
Management in Construction (Institute for Construction Engineering
and Management) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH
Zurich), Switzerland. He is a member of the Management Board
and Head of the Technical Competence Center (TCC) of the Holcim
Foundation.
Hans-Rudolf Schalcher worked as a civil engineer from 1969 after
studying at the ETH Zurich. He completed his PhD in 1977 with a
thesis on communication in building. In 1990 he was appointed
by the ETH as Professor for Planning and Management in Construction
where he led an interdisciplinary research project on sustainable
development in urban environments until his retirement in
2009. In 1993 he became president of the Center for Integrated
Planning in Construction (ZIPBau) at the ETH, and was Head of the
Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering from
1999 until 2005.
Mr. Schalcher is Board Member of The NETLIPSE Board of
Governance.
