It is thus responsible for significant areas of the transport policy agreed by the Swiss people, parliament and Federal Council, including passenger and goods transport on the railways, cableways and chairlifts, buses and ships.

On behalf of Switzerland, Professor Hans-Rudolf Schalcher is representing the FOT/BAV. Furthermore, Mr. Schalcher is assisted by Frank Wadenpohl, PhD. Mr. Wadenpohl is consultant at pom+ Consulting and involved with the development of and assessment with the IPAT.

Hans-Rudolf Schalcher is Professor Emeritus of Planning and Management in Construction (Institute for Construction Engineering and Management) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), Switzerland. He is a member of the Management Board and Head of the Technical Competence Center (TCC) of the Holcim Foundation.

Hans-Rudolf Schalcher worked as a civil engineer from 1969 after studying at the ETH Zurich. He completed his PhD in 1977 with a thesis on communication in building. In 1990 he was appointed by the ETH as Professor for Planning and Management in Construction where he led an interdisciplinary research project on sustainable development in urban environments until his retirement in 2009. In 1993 he became president of the Center for Integrated Planning in Construction (ZIPBau) at the ETH, and was Head of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering from 1999 until 2005.

Mr. Schalcher is Board Member of The NETLIPSE Board of Governance.
